R. Marcellus Wagner Youth Lodge. All former campers, counselors and friends of the camp are invited to spend a day at camp, June 10, before this year's camping season begins June 11. The lodge is a 6000-square-foot winterized building, according to Rev. John E. Porter, generate director of the camp, and will provide sleeping quarters for special camp events or off-seasons retreats. "This is the first winterized lodge on the grounds and a major step for the camp," said Father Porter. "The building will hold 50 campers in two dormitories." The lodge is being dedicate to the late Monsignor Wagner, the second camp director from 1924-1959, in appreciation of his efforts. It was through his work the camp expanded into a boys' and girls' camp and additional buildings were constructed, according to Father Porter. The camp, in New Baltimore, Ohio, is owned and operated by the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Honored guests for the afternoon will include Loretta Young, Mrs. Louise Wagner, sister of Monsignor Wagner, and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Grever (Mrs. Jane Wagner is niece of Monsignor Wagner). H. Garrett Frey is chairing the fund-raising campaign and the event with the assistance of Fred Ratterman. For donations of $25,000 or more, a room in the lodge will be named for the donor; $5000 or more a section of the lodge; $1000 name listed on a bronze plaque as sustaining sponsor and $100 listed on a special plaque as donor sponsor. To date, Frey said $100,000 in donations and three rooms have been realized toward the goal of $250,000. Admission for the day of dedication is $50 for two. Three cars will be given away that afternoon. A portion of the admission is tax deductible. Reservations may be made with the office, 426 E. Fifth St., Cincinnati 45202. No deadline has been set and reservations will be accepted at the camp gate June 10.
